In today’s world, multitasking has evolved into a necessity.  Unfortunately, the number of tasks we must accomplish outstrips our brain’s ability to remember.  Multiple studies have shown that creating lists helps us complete more tasks, be more efficient, and feel less overwhelmed.  By taking one activity at a time, the amount of things needed to be done feels more manageable.  Focus improves as does the quality of the work.

In “Getting Things Done”, David Allen recommends that we analyze each activity and break it down into it’s most basic parts.  If the tasks that we write down are too complicated, we will feel overwhelmed.  For example, “Clean and Wax Car” may incorporate, going to the store and getting the wax that you ran out of, fixing the nozzle on the hose that you have been meaning to do, calling your friends over so they can help you, etc.  This looming task broken down into easy steps is more manageable.

Instructions

The first screen you see will be a list of different “to-do” lists.  You can add or delete the lists by touching the “add/delete” button in the upper left hand side of the screen.  Once you have created a new list, the application will take you to a master list of items you can choose from to populate you list, or you can create new categories and items by touching the “+” button in the upper right hand side of the screen.  The “Add Category/Item” screen allow you to add a custom category or item to your list.  Once you have created the category and item, you will return to the screen that allows you to choose the item.  Once you are done populating the list, touch the “back” button in the upper left hand side of the screen and this will take you to your list.  The items on the list will have an empty circle next to the task.  Once you have completed the task, touch the circle and it will be checked off!  Any item or category can be deleted by touching the “edit” button on the upper right hand side of the screen.
